Recently, MormonLeaks™ was provided with an aggregated list of alleged instances of sexual abuse of minors perpetrated by leaders and members of the Mormon Church (see below document description). As the information was evaluated by our MormonLeaks™ team, it became apparent this information was not technically a “leak” but was a collection of alleged instances of sexual abuse gleaned from many different sources (some of which have been previously reported by the media).

MormonLeaks™ was founded on the belief that increased transparency within the Mormon Church will result in fewer untruths, less corruption, and less abuse. While the mass majority of Church leaders are clearly not sexual predators, because of the taboo nature of abuse—and because of non-disclosure agreements that are often part of abuse-settlement agreements—the exact prevalence of sexual abuse by leaders and members of the Mormon Church is difficult to measure. By promoting this document, we hope to expand public commentary and constructive criticism about the past and ongoing challenges of sexual abuse within the Mormon Church.
