Dieter F. Uchtdorf is currently a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and a former member of the First Presidency. He has a notable background as a pilot, was called as an Apostle on October 2, 2004, and served as Second Counselor in the First Presidency from February 3, 2008 to January 2, 2018. Originally from Germany, he is currently the only non-American member of either the Quorum of the Twelve or the First Presidency.
