On July 11, 2018 Executive Director of the Truth and Transparency Foundation, the non-profit overseeing MormonLeaks, argued to the Utah State Records Committee that the Brigham Young University Police Department is a government entity and should therefore be subject to GRAMA requests, Utah's FOIA equivalent. This hearing was in response to the BYUPD's denial to release a recording of an interview they conducted with Joseph Bishop during an investigation of sexual misconduct while at the Provo Missionary Training Center.
